I have worked on a range of dredging and sand management projects at local ports and waterways through to commercial ports throughout Australia. This has included project managing procurement of the Tommy Norton 650m3 TSHD for Gippsland Ports and successful attainment of 10-year Commonwealth sea dumping permits.
Sustainable sediment management assessments
TSHD and CSD program management
Sand bypass/transfer systems
Dredging approvals applications (including 10-year Commonwealth sea dumping permits)
Dredging environmental management plans (preparation, implementation and auditing)
Long-term maintenance dredging management plans
Geotextile sand containers
Waterways and ports are often located within or adjacent to environmentally sensitive areas including Ramsar wetlands and Marine Parks. Dredging approvals require compliance with stringent environmental conditions. Compliance is often met through items such as development and implementation of environmental management plans, water quality and seagrass monitoring programs, and ongoing sediment analysis. Swash can also assist with beneficial reuse projects, such as island sand nourishment and vegetation projects for migratory bird habitat.

Each waterway in Australia is unique, but many share similar issues. These issues include maintaining navigational channels and berths; sustainable boating (congestion); swing moorings and waterway zoning to meet the needs of the many, various waterway (and adjacent landside) users and agencies.
